JustThink Studio
JustThink Studio is an independent game studio. We make classic games that open fast, play well on any device and stay free: no account, no sign-in, nothing to set up before you play.
Every game we ship follows the same rules. The rules of the game come first, the design stays out of the way, your progress is saved on your own device, and ads pay the bills without blocking the fun.

How Pawnly works
Pawnly's computer opponent is Stockfish, the strongest open-source chess engine, compiled to WebAssembly by the Stockfish.js project. It runs entirely in your browser, so replies are instant and your moves are never sent to a server. Lower levels limit how deeply the engine thinks and add human-like mistakes, so beginners get a fair game.
Open-source licenses
Stockfish is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3. The engine files Pawnly serves are unmodified builds of Stockfish.js 19; the license is at /engine/STOCKFISH-LICENSE.txt and the full source code is at github.com/nmrugg/stockfish.js. Rules and move validation use chess.js, distributed under the BSD 2-Clause license (license text). The chess pieces are the classic set by Colin M.L. Burnett, used under the GNU GPL v2 or later.
